After 40 years of bank service, Threesh and Anita permanently moved back to their Kumaoni roots in 2011, to work with the Himalayan Study Center and Retreat: a society dedicated to the causes of performing arts, education, & livelihoods in the region. The Buransh is their small effort to promote tourism through art & culture, and offer travelers a meaningful experience with quality hospitality amid the tranquil tea gardens, farmlands, and verdant green forests home to exotic birds. The best part of it all is that Threesh and Anita personally host all their guests.
Below are some simple tips to practice responsible travel while in Kausani village: BELIEVE US! These practices will definitely give your trip more meaning.
- Pack your bags with environmentally friendly things. Carry as little plastic as possible.
- Do not leave behind any non-biodegradable waste.
- Avoid unnecessary use of water. There is a scarcity of water in Kausani village.

- What you wear has an impact – environmentally and culturally – dress ethically and appropriately.
- Respect the local culture and refrain from physical intimacy in public places.
- The local food is great. Try it as much as possible and avoid packaged food. Ask for modifications in the food according to your taste, instead of wasting it.
- Avoid excessive consumption of alcohol and refrain from drugs, especially in public places
- Seek permission before photographing people, so their privacy is respected.
- There is nothing like walking the road. Avoid hiring a car and hit the road instead. Famous places in Kausani are in the vicinity.
